This paved surface is a southward continuation of the north-south glareate road (SU 2093). It is associated with the similarly constructed basalt pavement (SU 2023) that must have formed part of the industrial complex immediately to the west, although there is a clear boundary between these two pavements (demarcating public and private?). It is possible that the owner of the industrial complex, being responsible for that stretch of public street on which his property had frontage, decided to replace the glareate with an upgraded basalt pavement.
