Hard packed surface with tufa inclusions. Most likely a layer of prep for floor (2202). Possible that this layer was also a floor surface in itself. Layer is similar to layers beneath 2272 and 2273. Due to similarity, it is possible that this layer could have extended through the space of atrium under the contra pesto floor.
