After study this cut is interpreted as part of a group of scattered cuts or depression in the bedrock that are tentatively interpreted as postholes in the Iron Age and Archaic phase of area A.
The circular cut in the tufo was probably used as a posthole. Its clear proximity to SU257 (cut) resulted in a tunnel connecting the two fills. The tunnel consisted of a clay layer. This feature was not anthropic or intentional. The two postholes, SU259 (cut) and SU260 (fill), and SU257 (cut) and SU258 (fill) are probably roughly contemporaneous.
