Soil foundation layer under feature 2851
Linear deposit sloping downward from north to south, with thickness increasing towards the south. This layer was directly under the linear feature (SU 2851), which may have been a collapsed wall, and might explain the relatively small amount of pottery and bone found in this deposit. Since this deposit lies between the linear feature and a more compact deposit underneath, this deposit may have been used to help pack the foundation of the linear feature.
