2019-06-25 Unknown Author

After further study it is still unclear if this layer was part of a natural accumulation following the abandonment of the Republican house or intentionally deposited post abandonment.

Unknown Date Unknown Author

Concentration of very fine white-gray ash on the west side of the house, just northwest of the visible crushed tufo floor (SU427). There were very few inclusions of any kind and very little charcoal or other signs of burning - the ash appears to have been redeposited in this area from another unknown location. Might represent degraded travertine - awaiting micro-morphology results.
