SU 5103 is a layer which remains unexcavated. It is characterised by a reddish color as well as numerous pottery sherds lying flat, and so may represent an ancient surface on which some sort of burning activity took place. One apparent edge was discovered during cleaning, raising the possibility of a hearth feature. Further cleaning and excavation is required to be certain. The bedrock itself immediately to the east also appears burnt, and another burnt layer (SU5121) lies a few meters to the west.
