SU 5457 is a tufo cylinder south of wall 5006 in the northwest corner of area F south. The cylinder sits directly upon a floor made of tufo slabs. The bottom portion of the cylinder has been worked to create a base. The top of the cylinder presents a circular basin approximately 23 cm deep. Inside the basin was SU 5458, comprised of pieces of charcoal and soil. This object can plausibly be interpreted as some sort of altar, located within an important space in the complex, upon which burnt offerings were made. The way in which the slabs of 5467 are worked shows that this is its original position, and that it belongs to the original usage phase of the complex.
