This Was a compact, natural deposit layer of virgin soil in which foundation trenches were cut to place the tufo blocks that make up the floor surfaces nearby (5432) and wall 5416. This layer seems free of human activity other than these cuts. Because it was determined to be a sterile, pre-anthropic layer, excavation of this SU was halted and it was not completely removed.
