This seems to represent a ditch that was filled with sturdy materials. The purpose could have been to separate two simultaneous fills, or it may simply have been created to support the structure above (i.e. wall 5157). The boundaries of the cut itself are unclear, given the fact that this feature was revealed by the backhoe. Yet, the linear shapes of the long sides seem to align with the parallel fill SU 5562 to the south, which is separated from SU 5561 by the orthostate slab wall at the southern limit.
