These blocks continue southward the N-S line of walls 5551 and 5703, and seem to represent in part the continuation of the western limit of Room 18, which has been so heavily truncated in the south by later activity. But these blocks also continue south past the line of E-W block 5486, which seems to mark the original southern limit of Room 18. This fact suggests that there may have been another room - or at least some walled space - further south, an invaluable indication of the original appearance of this space in the first ashlar phase.
These ashlar blocks under wall 5455 may belong to a wall from an earlier phase of the complex.
