SU5847 was constructed on top of and abutting ashlar wall 5798, indicating it is part of a later phase of Room 20, serving as an exterior wall for the building. It may have been constructed to restrict the opening into Room 20. The hole in the southern extent of 5847 appears to have been purposely cut, perhaps to accommodate a water pipe associated with the other drainage features in rooms 20-21.
