Based on position, elevation, and construction technique, it seems that this pavement may have been in phase with the main pavement of the 'piazza' to the north (7044). But, because of a gap between these two pavements, in addition to the fact that this pavement is truncated along the eastern side by the late cut (7266), this cannot be established with any certainty at the moment. Its alignment may also suggest that it has a closer relationship with the (possibly later) phase of the Via Praenestina in which the road began to turn at a slight angle to the southeast. This should be clarified by further seasons of fieldwork.
