The limits and full context have not been fully uncovered and will be further explored in 2019 2019-07-25 (Amelia Eichengreen): Room I-19 was not further excavated in the 2019 season, and at the end of the 2019 season was backfilled with no plans for further excavation. There remain four undocumented tufo lionato slabs. One north of 8363, one covered by 8405 and 8406, and two north of 8405 and 8406. There appear two be three distinct phases associated with this drain based on the different kinds of tufo in use as well as the stratigraphic relationships. The earliest phase is marked by the presence of tufo lionato and likely dates to the Republican period. This phase includes tufo slab 8363 and the four undocumented tufo lionato slabs. These slabs likely compose what would have been an outdoor pavement. The second phase is marked by the presence of lapis gabinus, and likely also dates to the Republican period, but a later phase. This phase includes 8357, 8399, 8407, 8400, 8358, and 8404. These stones likely make up an outdoor drain which covers the tufo lionato pavement. The final phase of the drain put is out of use, and is marked by 8405 and 8406 which fill in this drain.
