This feature appears to be a cooking surface, probably associated with the post-abandonment spoliation phase of the structure in area I. It is not associated with any habitation levels, and should probably be seen in conjunction with the large basalt stones to the west as part of a temporary cooking area. Layers 8423 and 8425, covering and extending to the south were mostly ash and contained few ceramics with evidence of burning, supporting this hypothesis.
