There is an extremely high concentration of large stones indicating that the fill is anthropic. The fact that the placement of the stones widens as the cistern deepens leads us to believe that the cistern itself opens as it gets deeper. A terracotta altar (special find 487) in the fill may indicate possible votive activity (?). The SU is probably related to abandonment activity. Large stones within the fill indicate that it might comprise demolition debris from the house itself. During post-excavation study, this feature was reinterpreted as backfill of the cistern in Space 7.

Genucilia Plate 1 1 Fragment with meander is probably a fragment of a Genucilia kylix rather than Genucilia plate. These are an associated production, originating from Caere, but rarer than the G. plates. Comparanda in Del Chiaro 1957, p. 320-321, 368, Plate 31 (Vignanello Kylix, Villa Giulia 43972; one of two kylikes at the Cerveteri excavation house; this latter is the closer comparandum of the two.)
