Observations
The su was excavated with pickaxe and trowel on 20/7/15.
Position
The su was positioned east of SU 2276; south of SU 2306 in the southern half of area.
Shape
The su was irregular.

Surface
The surface had a slight slope downward from north to south, degraded red tufo visible across the surface.
Inclusion Observations
There were frequent red tufo with scattered pottery.

This deposit is likely a preparation for a floor surface that has since disappeared. The surface runs beneath walls 2276 and 2306, clearly indicating that these walls belong to a later phase of construction.
