After study, this SU is associated with a number of round pits located in the central part of area A which may have accommodated the posts to which cranes’ tie-rods were tied.
Cut in tufo with base of dolium placed upside down in it as SU265 to create an artificial flat surface. On this surface, a vessel was placed (SU254) and there was fill around the vessel. At one point, the large water-washed cobble of basalt was placed above but also even with the uppermost portion of the pottery. This may have been a ritual deposit.
