The SU is a layer of accumulation possibly a leveling fill for one of the later Republican houses' courtyards. During post-excavation study, this feature was reinterpreted as a likely leveling fill that runs beneath a series of wall foundations that seem to represent the southern extent of the Phase 1A building.

Unknown Date Christopher Nelson

The SU is a compact irregularly shaped soil deposit.
