This cut has been reinterpreted during post excavation study as associated with the construction of an Iron Age hut. It is a cut for the bases of posts and foundation of a wall.

Cut in bedrock, specific function unknown. It is clearly related to the 2 smaller square cuts within it and one which is aligned with them but outside this channel. These may have been cuts for beams or supports of some sort, possibly for equipment related to the nearby quarry. A similar alignment of features lies just to the N - 3 square cuts in line with each other.
