SU 5494 isw in line with red tufo blocks extending North as SU 5345 and is also of a similar construction method. In line with it running along the top is a threshold, SU 5368, that has a rivet that would support a screen or door. All these features belong to an early phase, before the concrete walls and floors around SU 5494.
