This is an even better preserved example of an early fine cocciopesto floor surface than those that survive in Rooms 1 and 2 (5375 and 5374 respectively). Its style is very similar, with the diamond-shaped repeating pattern, and it differs only in the transition to the meander design at the southern limit. It is certainly contemporaneous with those floor surfaces and belongs to the original phase of the complex.
This is a cocciopesto floor surface that was partly restored, cleaned, and consolidated by the sopraintendenza (but only in the southern half; the northern half appears never to have been exposed). On its western and northern limits it was cut by robbery activity. 5302 covers part of the floor surface on the northeastern corner.
