Excavating the layer revealed a continuation of the drainage channel feature which is visible on the E side of 5302. This channel becomes narrower E to W. On the S end of the SU the bedrock is visibly regularized. This is perhaps to accommodate the tufo slabs that have been robbed out. On the Southern and NW part of SU, possible foundation trenches for the tufo slabs are visible. 2 silver coins (1299 & 1300) and 4 bronze coins (1297, 1302, 1310 & 1311) were found near each other in the SE corner of SU. 1 silver coin (1319)was found on top of the south central bedrock. The in-context coins establish a terminus post quem dating for this deposition layer. Reference for coin 1299: Crawford 458/1 A gold tutulus (1308) was also found in NW part of SU.
