this feature consisted of an orange-red clay formed into a ring (forming the sides of the feature), mortar appears under the clay and preserved in spots within the circular space delimited by the clay- below both was ash related possibly to construction as well as use. There were few inclusions which were integrated mostly into the mortar. This feature was clearly related to heating activity though it remains unclear exactly to what end- a soil sample was sent for analysis. this feature sits on top of floor paving 5726 and seems to reflect later occupation and activity in the area probably contemporaneous with the adjacent modifications to wall 5686 (the probable blocking of a doorway)and the brick arch between walls 5664 and 5665.
