SU 5840 served as an interior wall dividing rooms 21 and 22. Since the wall segment is of a different style compared to wall 5841, and is irregularly shaped on the sides, it may have been added at a later time to block what had formerly been an open passage, perhaps before room 21 was open to the street. In addition, a small fragment of plaster is visible between 5841 and 5840 and apoears to line 5841, further supporting the existence of a doorway.
