A few stones in the eastern section of room G-14 appear to be part of a leveling layer that is currently obscured both by later activity, especially the flat-lying tiles and marble used as a makeshift surface, but also the various cuts. We hypothesize that this layer was created as preparation for the mosaic floor we can see only underneath wall 6132. Further excavation in this space will clarify this layer. It is also possibly just bedrock at a high level.
