This is a layer of concrete that binds together SU 6127, 6128, and 6175. It appears to be part of the construction base for the pier (made of SU 6127 and 6128) that likely would have once supported a column in this area. Other piers of a similar concrete construction with reused ashlar blocks are visible along the southern limit of G-1, suggesting a row of columns for what may have once been a portico area. This SU contains large pieces of tiles placed directly under the reused ashlars (6127 and 6128). These tiles in the concrete appear to have been used as a leveling surface to level the pier bases. We see an identical construction under the other pier blocks in G-1, in the concrete of SUs 6121 and 6195.
