This is a worked stone piece. While its original function is unclear, it appears to have been reused in at least two later construction phases. SU 6284 is cemented into place by SU 6195. SU 6195 also cements into place the ashlar block (SU 6193) used as a pier and wall SU 6194. The position of SU 6284 cemented at an adjacent angle to SU 6193 in room G-20 is similar to the relationship between stone SU 6168 and SU 6125, which forms part of a pier base in room G-1. Thus, SU 6284 was likely part of the same construction phase as SU 6193, SU 6194, and SU 6195. Then, at a later period in time, it appears that someone formed a small wall (SU 6284) and deliberately incorporated the pre-existing SU 6284 and 6195 into this late small wall structure. There is no mortar or binding agent in wall SU 6283, so the sequence of SU 6284 being cemented into the same concrete as SU 6193 and 6194 gives a fairly clear sequence of events. SU 6284 was part of a construction phase when rooms G-1 an G-20 appear to have been split into separate rooms by wall SU 6194, and it was then reused in a much later (possibly medieval?) small wall construction. All the other stones and components of SU 6283 are placed in alignment with 6284, which is cemented in place from the earlier phase.
