These large ashlar blocks appear to relate to a threshold at the N limit of Room 1 belonging to a phase later than that of the ashlar construction. A slot for a door/shuttering has been cut into the top face, and near the eastern limit, where wall 7039 is constructed on top of these blocks, is a hole for a door post. These blocks sit at the same elevation and are of a roughly similar size and technique to blocks 7022 that form the 'sidewalk' at the south of the road. In conjunction with the evidence from the area immediately to the north, this suggests that a continuous surface (of blocks/slabs) might have extended between these two features, which was later robbed by cut 7058. The threshold was clearly put out of use by the construction of surface 7029.
