SU not fully excavated, but appears to be a post-abandonment fill of cuts in the area, including 7258 the circular cut in the bedrock north of 7204. In this sector, the fills of large late spoliation cut 7058 associated with muretto 7140, the earlier spoliation cut that damaged wall 7204, and the circular cut in the bedrock (7258) are all homogeneous and difficult to distinguish, which makes the stratigraphic sequence difficult to explicate. But it is important to distinguish the layers that fill only cut 7248 (SUs 7224 and 7227) from that which fills both 7058 and 7248 (this layer, 7245), since 7224 and 7227 are covered by the preparation level for the gravel road that covers the basalt-paved Via Gabina; an equation of 7224/7227 (covered by 7223) with 7245, which covers muretto 7140, would necessarily mean that road surface 7220 is later than the muretto phase, which is almost certainly not true, since the road surface seems to date to the 5th or 6th c. CE, and the muretti cover the fill of the channel, which seems to date to the 11th c. CE.
