Based on the careful arrangement of the basalt stones in places, where they closely interlock with one another, the layer appears to be intentionally deposited. The fact that the layer abuts the northern, western, and eastern walls of Room H14 indicates that it is the latest visible feature, only postdated by the negative features within the room (including the likely removal of part of this layer). The purpose of the layer is uncertain: it may be some kind of late use surface belonging to the last phase of occupation of this space, which would have been durable and drained well.
