Cut appears to be the result of robbing activity which removed some kind of partition wall between SU 8028, the concrete floor surface to the west, and SU 8029, the cocciopesto basin to the east. It can be inferred from the limits of the cut against the wall facing (that is, through 8028 and 8029 where they cover the walls SU 8012 and SU 8031) that the original height of this partition must have been higher than the preserved level of these walls. The function of such a partition must have been to provide further distinction between activities on the east side (basin 8029: treading grapes?) and the west (floor 8029; wine press activity?).
