SU 8029 is a cocciopesto basin which is clearly associated with the surface 8028 to the west and the drain in wall SU 8031 to the south. All must have been associated with the same productive processes, presumably (based on evidence in SU 8028) a press for oil or wine. SU 8029 may have served as a treading floor for wine production; the must would flow into the drain to the south (and into the tank SU 8047 in the "courtyard"), and the remaining grapes could be transferred to SU 8028 for pressing in order to extract as much must as possible. It is significant that both surface drain into the same tank.
