This SU lay beneath 8046 and contrasted clearly as it was a near solid layer of calcified material. It was very difficult to remove and had few inclusions other than a brown and yellow material running through in streaks, making the deposit sometimes softer and more friable. this was particularly noticeable in the western corner, where a larger concentration of marble and plaster was found in 8046. it is suggested that 8059 is perhaps the accumulation of lime with the liquid processed in the tank in antiquity, leading to calcification of the deposit. Perhaps related to repeated covering with amurca from olive oil production?
