It appears that this SU was intentionally back-filled, as evidenced by the density of the fill as well as the high density of artifacts (stone, plaster, pottery, painted plaster). It is the fill of a circular pit, whose function is unknown. During the excavation, a large void was found within the fill, interpreted as an animal burrow that disturbed the fill. The void was about 1 m deep and 0.5m in diameter, but remains unexplored. During post-excavation study, this feature was reinterpreted as a fill layer of a spoliation cut (SU 2236), marking the abandonment of the area.
