During post-excavation study, this feature was reinterpreted as either an abandonment deposit or leveling deposit sitting between the Phase 1B and 2 buildings. Because of the compressed stratigraphy between the two phases, it is not possible to isolate a single function for this deposit.
The SU is a layer of accumulation related to either leveling for construction of a later floor surface or the destruction of floor levels beneath it. This deposit sits in a depression that is possibly related to some form of truncation activity.
