This cut is possibly related to the spoliation of a water feature of some kind. While the top edge is in later material, the SU seems to cut what remains of an earlier earth-beaten floor surface just below the surface, possibly the original associated structure for the water feature. The cut is highly irregular along the western side, but a regular rectangle can be seen in the eastern part. The cut also flares eastward, undercutting later deposits and the earth-beaten floor surface. Because of the unstable nature of this interface, excavations were suspended in 2015 and will be resumed once that earth-beaten surface has been exposed. During post-excavation study, this feature was reinterpreted as a likely drainage feature regulating the flow of water in Space 7 during Phase 1B.
