During post-excavation study, this feature was reinterpreted as a pi-shaped built-stone feature that fronts the eastern Area C Road, likely serving as a stoop or entryway into the building and delimiting the Phase 1A building’s eastern limit. It is likely one of the earliest built features post-dating Gabii's urban grid.
This deposit of stones might be related to some kind of step onto the floor surface preserved in the western part of Space 1 or, possibly, floor leveling or drainage. It seems to belong to a later phase of the structure.
