During post-excavation study, this feature (2394/2514) was reinterpreted as a linear stone feature that is one of the earliest built features post-dating Gabii's urban grid. SU 2394/2514 runs parallel to SU 2398/2513, and appears to be a continuation of SU 2497's southern extension.
I believe that it is likely that this drainage feature belongs to an earlier phase of the Area C house in associated with the central drainage feature 2493 and was reused in the floor leveling for SU 2253.
The SU is a drainage channel. It is associated with the construction of floor 2253, probable continuation to the east of drainage feature 2493 and 2494 that was excavated in 2015. It potentially also connects with the large central drainage feature in the courtyard.
