After study, it appears that this was one a series of fills of a drainage channel in the area.

Layer of post-abandoment accumulation. Unlike its equivalent layer to the east (SU509), this layer does not cover a fill of large stones (SU535 - SU539), suggesting that the wall foundation that may have filled cut SU510 was eroded or robbed in this section (if it ever existed).
