SU 5440 is an East-West wall that forms the northern limit of Room 14 in Area Urbana. This wall (and SU 5439 which abuts 5440) are in phase with SU 5449 which is a tufo pavement section. It looks as if the ramp to the "monumental complex" may have used SU 5440 as a foundation of sorts to build upon, or as a wall on its western side, delineating an open area paved with tufo slabs (5449). This wall was later reused as a foundation for concrete wall 5321, when the two holes (purpose unknown) were patched with mortar.
