SU 5439 is a red tufo ashlar wall running north to south forming the eastern limit of Room 14. SU 5439 consists of 6 ashlar niches some of which are stacked upon each other to form three courses of the wall while the remaining three are in line with each other to form the construction of the wall in a single course. SU 5439 is in phase with and bound to SU 5440, denoting the northern excavation limit of Room 14 (possibly an outdoor courtyard) and also a limit to the monumental ramp running from the basalt paved road to the monumental complex. SU 5439 is also in phase with SU 5449, the red tufo pavement located to its western limit; a well is built into this feature. A block of tufo is leaned against SU 5439, this is perhaps a course of the wall that has collapsed, but we don't know if its location is original or if it was moved during the previous excavation. At the southern limit of SU 5439 there is a deposit of mortar, possibly a repair or an attempt to close the gap between SU 5439 and the stone pier SU 5442 that is abutting SU 5439. All limits appear to be orignal.
