Part of a system of drainage channels in the area.
Rock-cut channel running through most of the central part of Area A; on the north side, runs east-west through the bedrock under the 'house' and under wall SU420, then runs south parallel with the walls and line of the 'house' to the west and the road to the east before turning east again (cut SU510 is the east-west running cut at the south end of Area A cut by the road - SU510 and SU555 are two separately numbered sections of the same long cut). SU510 and SU555 are both aligned with the road, the 'house,' and the infant burials in cuts SU128 and SU515 on either side of the north-south section of the cut (all sections of cuts SU555 and SU510 are either parallel or perpendicular to these features). Based on the fairly consistent downward slope and the dimensions of the cut (SU555=SU510), it may be a drainage channel (see also interpretation for SU510).
