This deposit consists of sterile, hard soil that dos not appear to have ever been dug by humans. There are two anthropic cuts (one on the east side and one on the weet side) and it is from the top of these two cuts that our finds came. Because the main middle area was so sterile and hard, we hypothesized that it was the original, natural deposit on which the original floor level of Room 14 sat. The original floor is still presrved in the northwest corner of the room and would have closely aligned to the original level of our SU. It is also worth noting that there appears to be natural red tufa deposits in the sterile section close to the western cut.
