The relationship of the tufo superstructure to the concrete base is uncertain. Clearly the presence of concrete would seem to suggest that the whole pillar is a later feature, but it is alignment with the other tufo pillars and is comparable in style and scale. Perhaps the concrete footing is related to a later consolidation of the pillar, after which it was replaced in more or less its original position. There is a possibility, however, that the entire pillar is of a later date than the others, and than the original ashlar phase.
Ashlar pillar that delineated the Via Gabina and separated it from the area F complex. It's similar in nature to the other pillars along the road (5721, 5722, 5724, 5725, 5727, 5728, 5729).
