Although no foundation trench was discernible, it is possible that this is the layer into which the construction cut for wall 5730 was made (thus comparable to SU 5688 north of the wall). This tentative hypothesis is consistent with the near-natural character of the layer, and by the dating of the little pottery that it did produce (early part of the 3rd c. BCE).
