SU 5853 originally appeared to be the fill of a robbery trench for associated wall SU 5549. However, the thickness of the fill decreased considerably from about 1 meter from the southern limit, and the layer identified below became more rubbly and compact. In addition, it became extremely difficult to identify the western limit of the layer (and the associated cut). This leads us to believe that this layer may not fill a cut for the wall in this section, and may instead represent a deteriorated or robbed out floor or pavement of some sort, with wall 5549 extending only 1 meter from the southern limit of the SU.
