This block represents the southernmost limit of one of the walls that delimited southern side of the smaller courtyard, represented further north by wall 5765. While it was later reused within Room 21 as part of a feature related to the repurposing of the space (see SU 5842), originally it marked the corner of the wall that delimited the middle and lower terraces (of which wall 5845 to the west is part). The shallow notch carved into the block accommodated an interlocking perpendicular ashlar block, on an E-W alignment, where the wall continued its eastward course.
