This north-south wall appears to be original to the ashlar phase of the complex for several reasons: firstly, its orientation, technique, and the elevation of its foundation course are consistent with the other ashlar walls in this part of the middle terrace. Secondly, it is associated with a crushed tufo floor (5753) which itself seems to belong to the original phase. Thirdly, it is associated with E-W ashlar wall 5767, which is also associated with the crushed tufo floor of the perimeter of the small courtyard, and so by the transitive property ought to belong to the same phase. If this hypothesis is correct, than this wall is a significant piece of evidence for reconstructing the original phase of the complex in the far southwest, where very few remains survive. Further excavation of Room 20 to the south is necessary to fully understand this wall.
