After further excavation of layers immediately to the south of the Via Gabina (7221, 7245), it was determined that this layer (and the surrounding basalt stones preliminarily interpreted as a kind of drain, 7227) are actually part of the fill of the large (possibly spoliation) cut along the southern limit of the Via Gabina (7248), which partially cuts the basalt pavement of the road. This fill and 7227 were equated with one another.
