8048 is likely due to a collapse of one of the nearby walls, probably the southern wall (8031) of Room I-1 or the eastern wall (8038) of room I-8. While it was occasionally difficult to distinguish between this collapse and the layer 8092, which we believe may be an intentional mortared floor prep, the high frequency of larger building material in 8048 suggests collapse.
